You'll need to be quick to take advantage of the new visiting time slots opened this Friday to visit for free the large gantry of the shipyards of La Ciotat.
Several dates have been made available for the months of May and especially June, when there are only a handful of places left.
This is a truly original visit, which first allows you to discover the inside of the large gantry of La Ciotat. Visitors can then go up to its summit in a small elevator and walk freely on its platform located 83 meters above sea level and offering a panoramic view of the entire city, its bay, Île Verte, the Mugel park and the Bec de l'Aigle. People subject to vertigo, refrain!
This visit is also an opportunity to discover the industrial history of this site, which is still active, dedicated to shipbuilding and repair. The shipyards of La Ciotat have had a very eventful social history, and climbing to the top of the large gantry is also a chance to explore it.
The visits are free, but registration is mandatory at the address: https://www.laciotat.com/rdv-chantiers-navals
The visits take place on Saturday, and given the layout of the site, the number of people is each time very limited.
As this visit takes place on an industrial site that is still active, and requires going up into technical facilities, it is necessary to comply with certain conditions:
Minimum age and height: The visit is prohibited for children under 10 years old or under 1.20 m. Young people under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
Photos and videos: Photos and videos are not allowed for reasons of confidentiality and because of the International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS).
Pets: Pets are not permitted during the visit.
Accessibility: Access to the Grand Gantry platform, located 83 meters high, is via elevator. The elevator cabin can accommodate a maximum of six people. If you are subject to vertigo, this experience may not be suitable for you.
In addition, the first steps to reach the gantry are quite high. Unfortunately, due to this layout, the visit is not accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM) or those who have difficulty climbing large steps or a ladder.
Acceptance of the visit conditions: Before starting the visit, each visitor must tick a box indicating that they have read and accept the visit conditions.
